What I’m doing right now

Home, chillin’ and social distancing like most. In spite of the uncertainty and plethora of sometimes conflicting information I’ve given myself permission to remain calm and make sensible decisions. I mean, what else can we do?

In late December I committed to unfolding more of my own ideas, exploring places I’ve never seen and starting a business (notice the order). This entire process is sure to drive my fiancé crazy, so there’s that. Despite my annoyance, she has promoted me to official taste tester to her daily baking (which is quite a respectful job to have).

I was close to opening a restaurant, but the recent order to stay-at-home shut that opportunity down, luckily before I was financially committed. With so many people home quarantined, I’ve been forced to rethink what the future will hold for food. And not just food, but really good food. The food that makes us want to share and gather. The food that encourages us to celebrate because it’s important. The food that makes us want to be friends. I’m curious about that food and the shift we’ll all have to make going forward. I’m thinking about where my place will be within this party I’m having with food and if we can make it even better than it was before COVID-19 disrupted our lives. I love food intermingled with knowledgeable and personable service. And I love the challenge to get us to a better place.

Outside of that, I’m reading previously underutilized non-fiction and learning some basic post video production skills. It’s an awkward time, but I’m hopeful. I’m an optimist, so I can’t help but be excited and I’m grateful to be creative and always be creating some thing.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you’re seeing this in your own great place in life. Till then and always, peace!
